tt were fab!

July 6, 2009 at 10:43 am (Uncategorized)

My weekend was fabulosa!!

The Take That concert was amazing, just AMAZING! The circus show bits were unbelieveable and the boys were the absolute best!! All their greatest songs were performed including some real oldies. It made me feel an oldie at the grand old age of 28! When their first hits came out I was 11 or 12. A looooonnng time ago!! Jason has to be my fave, closely followed by Gary and Howard. Mark is not my cup of tea. He used to have a cuteness but I’m not sure about him now. But as a singer in that group, well…so very, very pleasing! They’re all lovely boys. I really think they deserve this second stab of fame and popularity. They’re definitely better as a man-band than a boy band.

I nearly cried when they sung Rule the World at the spectacular finale with all the pyrotechnics and light show amazing-ness! The atmosphere was electric too. All ages came, children, families, screaming girlies (us!) and older ladies. Lots of boyfriends and husbands too, and they were clearly enjoying themselves (even if they daren’t admit it!!)

I will definitely see them again-if they do another tour, but everyone was saying how they couldn’t top this.

And the support act-Lady Gaga wasn’t that bad either…her piano rendition of Pokerface was rather lovely before she stomped into the original version we know and secretly love!!!

good things to come

July 3, 2009 at 2:42 pm (Uncategorized)

While I feel rotten at times for various reasons, they’re still reasons why I should smile.

Tomorrow is one.

I am seeing Take That perform at Wembley. And if that isn’t good enough-we’ll be travelling there in style, by limo of course.

My health isn’t brilliant right now, but I’m striving to get on top of that though. All I need is a bit of time to recover from my hectic and demanding routine. I can’t even put it in words how mad it is right now. It’s my own fault though taking on too much-but I can’t say no to people. I’ll probably regret it but seeing as I’ve got a few things to want to pay for-I ‘ve agreed to do covering for the equivalent of 3 extra cleaning jobs. I can do it-it’s for three weeks and I’ll manage as it’ll be the kid’s Summer hols then. The most exhausting part of my daily life is the to-ing and fro-ing to preschool and school 6 times a day. This will soon change as my younger, DD will start school full time like her brother and then I’ll actually get a proper day 9am-3pm to accomplish things when it’s impossible right now.

I love being a mother more than anything in the world, but now is the right time for me to stretch my wings a little and do MY thing for a little bit.

As I mention good things to come, I also have V festival and a Dublin trip in August and maybe London too. I also hope with some luck I can afford to go somewhere November time as it’s my birthday. I want a bit of adventure in life again. It’s what my confidence needs.

a funny conversation

July 2, 2009 at 9:48 am (Uncategorized)

You know when MJ has been in the media a bit too much when small children – who haven’t even heard of him – start talking about him!

Last nights convo (overheard by Hubby) went something like this:

DS, “Bel”

DD – no response

DS, “Bel”

DD – no response again

DS, “Bel!”

DD, “What *****?”

DS, “You KNOW Michael Jackson? He’s died.”

DD, “Oh”

DS, “Yeah, I think I’m going to miss him..”

My husband said he couldn’t believe the little chat he just heard! How funny when you consider my SON who’s 5 doesn’t know who MJ is and DD who wouldn’t even know what DS was going on about!! I can only guess DS overheard something his mates said or maybe, possibly me-or the news…but either way it’s hilarious hearing it out the mouths of babes!!

what a beautiful day

July 1, 2009 at 12:24 pm (Uncategorized)

I think this has to be the best Summer we’ve had in ages. It’s so nice, that I’ve actually gotta come in from the garden as it’s that hot! So a little play on the PC it is, while I cool down a bit.

Just cleaned the bunnie’s hutch and tha proved a challenge in the heat. They’re running free in the garden destroying all my plants right now. I should supervise them, shouldn’t!!??

Right now, my body’s in a bit of a state, raging hayfever, burning sore throat and I really did my elbow in by whacking it when hoovering at work last night. I thought it was just ‘funny bone’ pain but it’s more like bruising the bone or something.

I’m really finding work tiresome when it’s like this out. I just cannot be bothered!!

Well Mr Sun is calling moi out again (as well as unseen destructive rabbits!!)

shocking weather

June 29, 2009 at 1:30 pm (Uncategorized)

Crazy British weather!! I don’t recall such a long stretch of beautiful weather for many years. It’s the best we’ve had for a looooooong time! I have been enjoying it muchly and getting more and more colour. It’s so unlike me to ever tan and I can proudly say I am darker than English lily white!!

I am truly looking forward to the kids breaking up for the summer hols. It’ll be great long summery days in the paddling pool and licking ice lollies. 😀

This week is a new week and I’m so glad. Last week for me, and for quite a few others too, was terrible. It was absolutely horrible for me personally and I was put to the challenge-that’s all I say about it!!

Moving onward and upward there’s some niceness on the horizon on different levels, we’re just needing a visiit from lady luck a couple of times and we’ll be laughing! :DD

PMA all the way…

losing a best friend

June 25, 2009 at 9:28 am (Uncategorized)

The last few days have been really hard.

It was meant to be a relaxing time off work but during the weekend break to York DD came down with chickenpox, it wasn’t too bad so nothing was spoilt really but coming home I had a sad goodbye waiting for me.

My darling rabbit, Honey, had to be put down. He had stopped drinking, eating and unable to move. He was looking extremely sorry for himself. So after being realistic about his situation a vet appointment-for their opinion was made-and that was already known in our hearts. I took him on my own, I had an emotional goodbye while the Vet reassured me I was doing the best for him and then scooped him out the room in his towel to euthananise him. I couldn’t bear her doing in front of me-when he went I bawled my eyes out.

Then Vet returned with him and it just didn’t seem real that my best friend Honey was really really gone. He’s been a happy constant in this family for nearly 9 years and so much has changed in that time, during his time with us we got married, moved house, had two children and he was at the hub of home life. As a house rabbit he was more like a dog or cat- and behaved like one sometimes too!

I still can’t believe it and I know I’ll take a while to get used to this ‘hole’ he’s left. Luckily the children didn’t take to him passing that badly which I’m glad about.

I haven’t gone through his pictures and videos yet-there’s 100s and 100s. It’s a bit raw for me to go there yet. I am remembering happy times mostly, but that brings on the tears in itself.

So, Honey my sweet darling, I can honestly say you were the best rabbit a family could be blessed to have. Even when at your naughtiest we loved you dearly. I always loved you dearly and now you’re not here I love you even more… rest in peace forever my dearest friend… xxx

going to york

June 17, 2009 at 9:47 am (Uncategorized)

This weekend we will be in York. Booked 2 nights away. Just what I need. And what DH needs too.

Plan on going to the railway museum for the benefit of DS and I reckon I’ll enjoy it myself. Also going explore round the city itself and perhaps drive through the dales to see the scenery. Will be lovely. 🙂

Kids have no idea. It’s a secret as we plan to leave Friday (a school day) so it will be one day of skiving-but DD needs to pop along to preschool first thing to be in their group photograph which is being taken. Means we don’t need to leave any earlier so we won’t knacker ourselves silly for no reason. My mother will pop over to check the bunnies are fed and watered.

This will be good.

who can see this?

June 16, 2009 at 11:52 am (Uncategorized)

I have noticed difficulty in loading this page and wondered if there’s anyone reading (if anyone!!) can see this page correctly.

Today has been NICE. Nice weather, sweet company (mainly with twenty-so 3-4 year olds) and a bit of retail therapy. Also had discussion with the DH about a possible weekend away. Yay!!!

Last night we had a brilliant thunder storm. I love them, the eerie sky and the deafening noise. I was actually driving out in the worst of it and several bolts of lightening made me jump. Why I thought I’d get struck is funny now! DH told me poor DS cried at one particular crash of thunder. Bless him, he’s isn’t one to be scared of anything. Hopefully this hot muggy spell shall bring some more storms our way. They’re amazing. 🙂

having a well deserved rest

June 15, 2009 at 12:20 pm (Uncategorized)

Ah the weekend. It was just the tonic I needed but now I feel absolutely knackered!

BBQs, waterfights, country drives, pubs, parks and visits to relatives…and some more proved a little wearing for me especially now we’re in a new week with more in store-esp the fact I’m working non-stop.

Maybe my 28 years of age is creeping up on me. But on the otherhand I did over-do it and I always do!

I was intending to help out school this morning as I normally do but I had to make excuses and enjoy a 2.5 hour break with tv, coffee and a magazine instead.

Something that raised a smile today was this story.

Come on weekend

June 11, 2009 at 2:55 pm (Uncategorized)

I’m ready for the weekend now!

I am so tired and have two long evenings of work as yet plus a school trip to help out on. I’ve a yucky sore throat which is irritating me and two little monkeys for children who are hellbent on not allowing me any rest.

All the fun of being a busy mum. At least I did manage to get what I set out to do today. That was tackle the awful pile of clean but un-ironed clothes in our bedroom. Not a very calming or peaceful place to be with that staring back at you.

I also locked myself out this morning. Luckily was outside for no more than 20 minutes as Hubby was due home to return home for his lunch. Whilst stuck out side I decided to do some weeding in the front garden-so there was a small benefit to be had I suppose.

The weather hasn’t been great this week. Very unsettled and black clouds looming all around. Not that it bothers me as been too busy to enjoy any sunshine, though I do have my fingers crossed for tomorrow’s jaunt at the nature reserve. I don’t even have wellies. 😦
